Position Summary
Performs general accounting functions requiring the exercise of initiative and independent judgement based on knowledge of the organization, functions, policies and procedures. May work as a front line cashier. Position requires a considerable amount of data entry for transactions. Responsible for a high volume of customer interaction providing services offered through the department.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports. Ten key by touch and basic keyboard skills. Ability to communicate and deal effectively and courteously with individuals from varying backgrounds. Ability to work flexible work hours as requested. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.

The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Associates degree or higher plus one year of experience of general accounting in a computerized accounting environment, including experience directly related to area assigned or graduation from high school or GED equivalency plus six hours of college accounting plus three years of general accounting experience in a computerized accounting environment, including experience directly related to area assigned. Official transcripts will be required. ***Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs accounting functions including reviewing and reconciling documents and records. Examines, codes, verifies, balances, and reconciles various kinds of transactions, listings, invoices, vouchers, and reports. Maintains accounting records and reviews accounts for discrepancies. Reconciles specific general ledger accounts and prepares adjustments of journal entries. Performs research, analyzes results, and prepares summary reports. Maintains spreadsheets and/or other related files and documents including accounting transactions, etc. Incumbents may perform accounting functions related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing functions, bank reconciliation, cash receipts and disbursements, etc. Responsible for performing daily cash count and/or replenishes coin machines. May provide guidance and training to accountants in related field. Performs other duties as assigned.
