Position Summary

Responsible for the leadership of diverse programs and services related to student development.  Responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and developing programs for areas of counseling, assessment, career placement, student financial aid, admissions, student programs, student government, veteran’s affairs, recruitment and retention or enrollment management, and women’s programs

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge and experience leading, managing, and motivating the enrollment and student services division and engage the community to work together in attracting, enrolling, retaining, and graduating an increasingly talented and diverse student population.  Ability to ensure recruitment goals, objectives, budgets, polices, practices, and actions produce successful student recruitment results, consistent with the district’s overall mission and strategic enrollment and retention goals.  Demonstrated knowledge of developing strategies for a variety of market segments that address prospective students, program and enrollment inquiries, application processes, and pre-enrollment phases of the admissions process.  Advanced knowledge of enrollment management models and processes.  Experience undertaking special projects, completing them on time, utilizing the budget and solving problems as they are related.  Demonstrated capacity to interface effectively and efficiently with internal and external constituents, including president, faculty, student, staff and community groups.  The ability to conceptualize and implement a dynamic long-term vision for enrollment, a strategic mindset, the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team, and the interpersonal skills and desire to partner with all areas across campus.  Must be inspiring, collaborative, and innovative leader of high integrity who will embrace and extend the distinct character of the college/district in the recruitment of students.  Experience management leadership experience including team building and a commitment to data-informed decision making and experience with budget development and oversight.  Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.  Strong interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills to interact with individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds.  Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

Earned doctorate preferred:  Masters is required and four (4) years of experience as an administrator in community college, higher education institution, and/or related environment.  Official transcripts are required.   ***Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check. ***

Preferred Skills: 

  1. Experience working with Academic Affairs to establish dual credit and early college programs.
  2. Experience in building Student Services and Academic Affairs to develop academic partnerships with high school and industry partners.
  3. Experience in operationalizing Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) policies and standards for dual credit programs.
  4. Established positive professional relationships with local independent school districts and community partners.
  5. Demonstrated success in building a collaborative environment between Student Services and Academic Affairs to advance student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develops, implements, manages and evaluates a large variety of diverse programs in support of student services programs of the college.  Formulates policies, procedures goals and objectives.  Assumes overall responsibility for directing the activities of the personnel engaged in performing the functions of the assigned areas.  Develops, implements and monitors a significant portion of the college budget; identifies and pursues alternate funding sources where appropriate.  Directs the application and enforcement of the student code of conduct, including disciplinary and grievance processes.  Provides college-wide leadership in enrollment management, recruitment and student retention efforts.  Ensures compliance to federal laws such as SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).  Ensures adherence to applicable SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) criteria.  May be responsible for the supervision of the location Police Department.  Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participates in internal and external meetings and seminars.  Must have solid listening, oral and written communications to communicate with a diverse array of stakeholders and constituents within the DCCCD community network.
