An advanced level position performing duties such as landscape design, installation, extension, maintenance and repair of irrigation/sprinkler systems. Installs maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and designs irrigation system at assigned location(s).
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of power tools. Knowledge of installation and operation of irrigation systems. Knowledge of proper safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and ordinances applicable to work being performed. Knowledge of water conservation initiatives and methods. Knowledge of irrigation controllers. Knowledge of backflow principles. Skills in irrigation system layout. Skills in planning, directing or organizing the work of others. Skills in preparing simple reports. Skills in working from drawings, blueprints, plans, and specifications. Skills in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to utilize computer technology to manage related software systems, gather data and generate reports. Appropriately represents the department to the campus community. Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.

The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Graduation from high school or equivalency and four (4) years of experience in irrigation system maintenance and installation. Texas Landscape Irrigation License. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and designs of irrigation systems that address water conservation requirements according to the Texas Commission on Environmental quality. Performs preventative maintenance procedures on irrigation systems and pump stations. Requisitions and maintains inventory of parts needed for irrigation system maintenance and expansions. Maintains related records and drawings. Troubleshoots low voltage irrigation electrical systems, irrigation valve malfunctions, basic irrigation pump station malfunctions and basic irrigation time clock malfunctions. Reviews bids and makes recommendations; assists in the design and layout of new major irrigation systems. Directs and oversees assigned staff and equipment for irrigation projects. Ensures work is performed and ensures completion in accordance with state and local codes. Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment utilized both for irrigation and landscape related functions. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
