Position Summary
Advanced level work painting interior and exterior areas requiring an advanced knowledge of the trade.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of applicable code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools machinery, and equipment, occupational hazards of the painting trade and precautionary measures to be observed. Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; mix and match paints and varnishes; apply finishes to a wide variety of surfaces; estimate time and materials required on widely varied assignments. Keep computerized records and prepare reports; perform heavy physical labor; coordinate work flow for multiple projects; comprehend, and work from plans and blueprints. Oral and written communication skills to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.

The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.


Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent plus three years of experience as a commercial painter. Advanced knowledge of commercial practices and processes of the painting trade. *** Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check. ***

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints furniture, surfaces, buildings and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, and epoxy, water-proofing and heat resistant finishes. Responsible for the tracking of supplies and prepares requisitions; maintains inventory of paints, supplies and equipment; responsible for proper labeling of all supplies. Maintains all MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) information for all painting materials current and on file. Responsible for planning and prioritizing projects and maintaining federally mandated regulation records and safe work practices. Responsible to ensure safe work practices and maintains mandated federal regulations. Ensures proper disposal of hazardous materials. Complies with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
