An intermediate level position responsible for designing, coding, documenting and testing of new and existing programs. Develops, implements and/or maintains complex computer programs for information systems. Analyzes and designs departmental systems and develops solutions. Responsibilities are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and proficiency in programming environment and programming tool sets. Thorough knowledge of structured programming techniques and ability to test application programming (e.g. Datatel Colleague, Enterprise Resource Planning System, Envision, Tool-Kit programming language and UniData, DBMS, or SQL server and ASP, PHP, or Java). Working knowledge of project development methodologies; project management procedures. Skill in writing program code. Ability to analyze and solve complex problems; coordinate, plan and schedule; test and implement programs; review and evaluate technical information. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year experience in computer programming or Associate’s degree plus three years’ experience in computer programming or graduation from high school or equivalent plus five years’ experience in computer programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Uses logic and technical knowledge in completing programming tasks; Codes complex programs from specifications, tests and implements complex programs. Compiles and writes documentation to describe program development and revisions. Responsible for class/lab room setup and/or serve as resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. Analyzes, designs and tests new and/or existing systems. Provides support and resolves complex problems. Installs, tests and upgrades complex proprietary software. Consults and evaluates user requirements for programs and/or systems. May serve as project leader and/or assistant on complex projects which requires coordination, planning and scheduling work of technical employees during project development and implementation phases. Serves as project evaluator and/or reviewer. Performs research and identifies program problems; develops solutions. Prepares user documentation for on-line applications. Plans and prioritizes assignments to meet specified deadlines. Participates in team meetings and discussion of detailed assignments to achieve end-result. Assists in developing proposed computer applications in terms of equipment requirements and capabilities. Performs related duties as assigned.
