Position Summary

Performs accounting functions requiring initiative and the exercise of independent judgment and knowledge of organizational accounting.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports. Basic understanding of spreadsheet software applications. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The ability to provide quality customer service.

Physical Requirements

Work with light, easy to handle materials requiring little physical effort.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

Associate’s degree plus two years of general accounting experience OR graduation from high school and six hours of college accounting plus four years of general accounting experience.  ***Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be working in the Business Office.  This is a new part-time position.  The work days and hours is Monday - Thursday from 3pm to 7pm and Friday 1pm to 4pm

• Strong front line customer service skills
• Strong computer knowledge
• Advanced excel knowledge

Performs accounting functions including reviewing and reconciling records and documents.  Researches documents and accounting records and prepares reports and journal entries. Identifies and resolves recurring problems; prepares explanation as required.   Analyzes accounting records for compliance with DCCCD procedures and/or regulations/policies of external agencies.  Receives and accumulates data; verifies accuracy; develops and maintains spreadsheets and/or other related files and records.  Incumbents may perform accounting functions related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, bank reconciliations, insurance premiums, etc.  Contacts other DCCCD staff or external agencies or individuals to obtain, supply or explain data and to identify additional information.  May be responsible for supervising clerical/general support staff.
