Develops and maintains a variety of computer records used to record data related to department functions. Provide information using a variety of report generators.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to manipulate large databases to analyze information and provide summary reports. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
Some incumbents are required to be able to lift and move terminals, cables and peripherals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in social science research, computer science, technology or a related field. Four years of experience in institutional research with demonstrated ability to design, implement, analyze, and summarize complex research into coherent reports for utilization in decision making.
Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheet/database programs plus four years of experience in related field. Official transcripts will be required. ***Will be subject to a criminal background check and/or fingerprinting check.***
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates or performs data processing functions related to recording and analyzing department activities through knowledge of specific applications and input and maintenance of data files. Accesses information from database through a variety of report generators. Performs research and analyzes data; prepares periodic and special project summary reports for use in
internal/external reporting requirements and to provide guidance to management in decision making. Receives and accumulates data; verifies accuracy, completeness, and compliance with DCCCD policy and procedures, department guidelines and state/federal regulations. Acts as a liaison with system end users and other departments/locations in resolving transaction processing problems. Monitor the addition of information to the database through control of the assignment of required code numbers. Participate in primary functions of department including but not limited to: counseling/advising students; developing and teaching workshops/seminars; job placement activities; developing and coordinating mail-outs/handouts used in recruiting and tracking activities. Responsible for troubleshooting hardware/software problems; resolves minor problems and refers major problems to responsible department or vendor. Performs related duties as assigned.
